I'm so excited, very soon I will have my very own hamster! It is going to be one of the more plastic cages (it doesn't have any bars), so I will see how it works. I am afraid I will not be able to see my hamster as well as if I had a barred cage, but my apartment is a little drafty, so at least the cage will help my hamster stay warmer.

I'm thinking of naming the hamster Harvey. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions?John Birchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13710248837114889257noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3379822592383224507.post-20087383872816596952006-12-21T11:59:00.000-08:002006-12-21T12:03:20.160-08:00A Little Light ReadingI just got this book, The Hamster Handbook, it came highly recommended. It was a little more expensive than many of the other books, but it was full of great material. I have read half of it, and I have yet to such in depth reading about hamsters. If you want to know everything about them, this is an excellent book.John Birchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13710248837114889257noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3379822592383224507.post-91554083970123758482006-12-20T12:53:00.000-08:002006-12-20T13:00:51.296-08:00A new pet.Do you want a hamster? I didn't at first, but my girlfriend insisted that we needed a pet.

I had hoping for a dragon or at least a Labrador, but our lease agreement would not allow such a creature in our residence. But a hamster, that was allowed. It was also a very cheap choice. We were getting a cage for free from an acquaintance of my girlfriends, so the only thing it would cost was the hamster and a few tablespoons of seeds a day.

I agreed to the creature and we are now awaiting the cage, and will follow it with a quick trip to the pet store. A hamster costs about $10 and if we would have gotten its cage it would have been an additional $30. This a cheap pet, and I am finally getting excited about it. The cage should be here any day now...John Birchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13710248837114889257noreply@blogger.com0
